At the last meeting, Debbie Reynolds, the Fortbend Rainbow Room donations coordinator, reminded everyone that they will complete the blankets for donations during the upcoming conference on January 20, 2024. The Rainbow Room is a local non-profit organization that supports children and families in crisis by providing essential items such as clothing, toiletries, and school supplies. Lambda Sigma Chapter has supported The Rainbow Room as one of the chapter's community service projects for many years.
After consulting with the administrative staff members of the Rainbow Room, Debbie discovered that the center was in dire need of necessities such as baby formula, toilet paper, and paper towels. These items are essential for the health and hygiene of the children and families they serve, and the donations will go a long way in supporting their cause. During the January 20, 2024, meeting, the chapter completed the blankets for donations and agreed to apply for an ASTEF Project Grant to support this worthy cause beyond blanket donations.
Lambda Sigma Fundraiser
Currently, twenty-one members (out of 43) have turned in 486 tickets for a total of $3320. This is $340 less than we raised last year. Attached is a copy of the tickets in case you need more or have not had a chance to sell them to coworkers, friends, neighbors, family and at the activities you are involved in.
Everyone would love to win $400+ in gift cards to local eateries and businesses much less four tickets to the Houston Rodeo on Saturday, March 2 at 2:45.
The deadline to turn in ticket stubs and money to Mary Ann Dolezal is Saturday, February 10. Winning tickets will be drawn at the February 17 luncheon at Spring Creek BBQ. If you have not sold tickets yet, please print a few tickets and support our one and only fabulous fundraiser.
The plan this year is to partner with the FBISD Education Foundation to provide classroom grants and support new teachers as well as working with special needs campuses. With your help, we can support so many more students and educators this year.

President's Message
Dear Lambda Sigma,
Lambda Sigma Chapter moved into the stratosphere of leadership when members voted to create a President Council (LSPC) to oversee the collaborative responsibilities of the chapter president during the 2024-2026 biennium.
The council will have a Contact President, a Finance President, and a Communication President. As the face of the chapter, the Contact President will attend state meetings, preside over chapter meetings, and perform other related duties. The Finance President will oversee chapter finances and ensure financial reports are complete. Finally, the Communication President will collaborate with the Webmaster and Newsletter Editor to publicize chapter events. This structure will also allow Lambda Sigma time to strengthen its succession plan so that LSPC does not have to become a permanent part of chapter dynamics.
The Nominating Committee's creative and collaborative approach towards overcoming this chapter challenge is truly commendable and inspiring.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dr. Denese Wolff-Hilliard
