Lambda Sigma Chapter - Alpha State, Texas
Chartered on February 13, 1982, Lambda Sigma Chapter has provided community service to the Fort Bend residents for nearly 42 years. As a chapter of leaders, Lambda Sigma has earned the Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence (PACE) seven times. We have produced two Area Coordinators, Mary Ann Dolezal and Salethia Morris. The chapter has also had five members selected to participate in the illustrious Texas State Organization Leadership Seminar: Mary Ann Dolezal, Linda Russell, Joan Eubanks, Salethia Morris, and Denese Wolff-Hilliard.
The chapter received a $500 stipend from the Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation (ASTEF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to provide funding for activities that support professional and personal growth of women educators in Texas and promotes educational excellence for Texas students. The stipend supported the Thanks for Teacher Healthy Snack Bags for the faculty and staff of two Fort Bend ISD elementary schools , which was designed to uplift the spirits of the faculty and staff as the pandemic continued to impact the teaching environment.
Lambda Sigma Chapter will continue this project during the 2022-2-24 biennium to help brighten the spirits of teachers and staff with a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment. Uplifting the spirits of teachers and staff members at Goodman Elementary and Austin Parkway Elementary was a major focus of our healthy teacher snack bags.
Other activities that the chapter embraces in Fort Bend County include providing grants and teaching supplies to active teachers, donating gift cards and merchandise to the Fortbend Rainbow Room and Women in Spirit, and adopting an elementary in FBISD each year to support.
Lambda Sigma Chapter offers several committees for members to share their gifts and talents, which allows members to sharpen their skills and stay prepared to make a difference in the Fort Bend community.
